All You Need to Know About Bali’s NightLife

Home to one of the world’s most vibrant and exciting nightlife scenes, Bali attracts millions of people every year with the promise of unforgettable nights out. Whether you’re visiting the Indonesian island for its natural beauty, pristine beaches, or just some fun in the sun, Bali nightlife is something you won’t want to miss.

No matter what scene you’re into, Bali has got you covered, with the island’s capital Denpasar acting as the perfect nightlife hub. Surrounding the southern city you’ll find a range of nightlife hotspots, each with its own atmosphere and charm.

And, with each area just a short Uber ride away from the other, there’s no excuse to check out everything Bali’s nightlife scene has to offer.

Kuta

Kuta is considered a Bali must-visit and is extremely popular amongst younger crowds from Australia, Indonesia, and backpackers from afar. It’s most famous for its sandy beach that stretches 2.5 km on the island’s South West coast.

Visit Kuta during the day, and you’ll find it a classic tourist hotspot. Think trinkets shops, street food, surfers and massages.

Stop by Kuta at night, and the area is transformed into one of the liveliest nightlife scenes in the world. Lining the famous Kuta Beach, you’ll find countless bars and nightclubs with loud tunes, busy dancefloors, and top DJs.

Sticking to its surfer crowd roots, you’ll find Kuta is an eclectic spot where the drinks are cheap, the music is loud, and inhibitions are left at the door.

Seminyak

Head a short journey North-West from Kuta, and you’ll come across the province of Seminyak. While Kuta offers an all-out party experience, Seminyak is a great destination when you’re looking for something a little more refined and less touristy.

The area attracts people looking for a more refined night out, drawing in people aged 25 and older with its more upscale bars and clubs. A lot of these destinations have an entrance fee and are stricter on dress code.

The upshot of this is grander views, beautifully designed bars, and a more intimate experience, all accompanied by expertly made cocktails, curated wines, and premium beers.

Canggu

Fast becoming one of Bali’s favourite destinations, Canguu has transformed itself from a sleepy beach town into a nightlife hit. Canggu can be found North-West of Seminyak and is most popular amongst those in their twenties to thirties.

Work your way through Canggu, and you’ll find beach parties, stylish cafes, welcoming shops, and plenty of nightlife. This is all set against a beautiful beachfront and green rice fields giving it a more open feel with a taste of the authentic Bali still left. Here, you’ll see a diverse mix of people from influencers, surfers, backpackers, digital nomads, and those just looking for a great night out.

The main attraction here is the food, beach parties and clubs featuring resident DJs right on Berawa Beach.

Uluwatu

If you’re looking for a truly fun night out, head to Uluwatu beach, where you’ll find great food, rooftop infinity pools, and idyllic cocktails set away from the hustle and bustle. You’ll find Uluwati nestled down in the southern tip of Bali in the Bukit Peninsula.

Here, you’ll find a mix of high-end hotels and rooftop clubs with infinity pools and rich cocktails, as well as lively party destinations and beach gatherings. Uluwatu’s perfect for midweek nights out and for those who like to party in a beautiful setting.

Uluwatu is also a great spot for those who love live music, with plenty of karaoke bars and bars featuring bands of all different genres.

The Best of Bali’s Nightlife

1. Finns Beach Club

Spread over 170 metres of beach, Finns Beach Club is one of Bali’s most iconic nightlife spots. You’ll find Finn’s party village in Canggu lining the Jalan Pantai Berawa beach, which gives night owls a choice of 9 bars, 6 different restaurants, and 4 pools to choose from.

Finns keeps the party going all day with DJs and live singers, keeping the atmosphere relaxed during the day and amped up during the early hours. Rent a daybed and enjoy happy hour cocktails to get the most out of Finns every day of the week.

2. LXXY Bali

LXXY is one of the Kuta region’s hottest new clubs and is regularly ranked among the best nightlife destinations in the world.

It’s located in the street party hotspot of Jalan Legian, where people come for a great night out. LXXY does not disappoint and offers a complete night out thanks to its affordable all-you-can-eat-and-drink BBQ, starting early and extending right through to 11:00 PM.

This allows the drinks to flow and the stomachs to be satisfied while enjoying a variety of house, old-school tunes and pop music.

3. La Favella

Repurposing an old property, La Favella is a characterful club that oozes retro-cool thanks to its eclectic decor.

Visit La Favella during the day, and you’ll find a fun restaurant serving up tapas and Latin-inspired food. Stop by after-hours, and you’ll discover an inviting house-party atmosphere with free entry and a casual atmosphere. Expect hip hop, R’n’B and some modern dance hits under warm mood lighting and a more mature crowd.

You’ll find La Favella in the Seminyak district, and the nightlife begins around 7 PM.

4. Potato Head Beach Club

The Potato Head Beach Club is a premium nightlife destination with infinity pools, ocean views, swaying palms, and beautiful architecture.

The Beach Club itself is an elliptical facade hugging the Indonesian coast and is a great spot to watch the sunset over the west.

While Potato Head Beach Club is a popular destination for groups of all ages, it regularly hosts special gigs with celebrities, renowned DJs, and performers taking to its stage.

5. Single Fin

For a more relaxed night out, check out Single Fin, one of Uluwatu’s most legendary beach bars.

Beginning as a humble surfer bar in 2008, Single Fin is now somewhere people flock to in their droves to enjoy an evening eating great food, drinking a cold Bintang, having a dance, and enjoying some live music and DJs.

The atmosphere is laid back and is great for those who enjoy quieter nights or for those who need one.

6. Motel Mexicola

A Mexican bar-restaurant full of life and colour, Motel Mexicola should find itself on everyone’s list of Bali destinations.

As you enter Motel Mexicola, you’ll discover floor to ceiling is covered in photos, paintings, and murals, making every inch a photo opportunity. While you’ll find the spot has a relaxing, hipster atmosphere during the day while people enjoy a quiet drink and bite to eat, the evenings have a carnival atmosphere.

Expect a party atmosphere with conga lines, waiters dancing alongside patrons, and music that gets everyone singing and dancing. As its name suggests, Motel Mexicola also doubles up as a great motel, and located in Seminyak it can serve as a great base for your nights out.

7. The Lawn

Whether you visit for a fun Friday night session, or a relaxing Sunday lazing in a daybed and catching up, The Lawn is one of Bali’s best beach lounges.

It was established by pro-surfer Tai Buddha and began as a modest combi van serving drinks to tourists. Fast forward a few years, and The Lawn today is a large, beachside nightlife destination that features some of the world’s most exciting DJs, bands, and artists.

With beautiful decor and plenty of space, this is the ideal night out for groups of friends who want to chat as well as party. You’ll find The Lawn just off Canggu Beach

8. Woo Bar

Located in Seminyak, Woo Bar is one of the premier beachfront clubs in Bali, offering both an indoor and outdoor space to eat, drink, and play. The staff here are considered among the friendliest anywhere in Bali, attracting people 25 or older more than younger crowds.

Visiting day or night, you will be greeted with a hum of activity as people enjoy the pool deck and cocktail tables across this venue. Most famous are Woo Bar’s sundowner parties, where the atmosphere and music are taken to another level.

While Woo bar impresses with plenty of music and renowned DJs, most people come away wowed by the venue’s unique, shell-like architecture, beautiful pool overlooking the Bali sunset, and range of shisha.

9. Sky Garden

Probably the most famous nightclub in Bali, The Skygarden can be found a stone’s throw away from the poignant Legian Memorial wall.

This club is most popular with Australians and backpackers and gives a classic nightclub experience: loud music, light shows, and international DJs bringing out some of the best tunes.

Be sure to come before 9 PM to take part in the buffet and open bar, which starts at 5 PM. This is a packed indoor venue and is ideal for those looking to dance and really let off some steam.

10. Mirror Lounge & Club

Bringing a distinctly gothic vibe to Bali, The Mirror Lounge & Club is one of the quirkiest nightlife destinations in Bali. It’s located in Seminyak, away from the beachfront, nestled among the cafes and bars.

Within the club, you’ll find a cathedral-like vaulting ceiling with stained glass windows, black leather couches and suitably gothic decor. The Mirror Lounge opens up late at 11 PM so is a good destination to head to after visiting a beach lounge to keep the party going.

You’ll find a wide range of age groups here drawn by the perfectly executed theme, immersive lighting, and the best DJs.
